Applying Federalist Principles to Data Management
May 5, 2011 ----- Winston Chen
The benefits of enterprise-wide data management are well understood. But there is also a down side: the loss of local agility. And there is the political reality where local business units resist anything enterprise. The alternative is a landscape of data silos and data anarchy. Is there a third way?
In this session, Winston Chen from Kalido will introduce the concept of federalism as a governance model for enterprise data management, which helps companies strike the right balance between central control and local agility. He'll offer some practical ways to apply federalist principles to different areas in data management, including BI/data warehousing, MDM, and data governance.
